Project Oasis

An Oasis is not easy to find and this project is a hidden gem featuring intriguing art installations that provide some one-of-a-kind photo opportunities. They also feature a variety of arts and cultural performances that will surely spice up your weekends.

Look out for exciting cultural events and performances in Little India every Friday and Saturday evening in July and August 2016. Ranging from film screenings to theatre performances to storytelling, there is something for everyone, young and old, to enjoy. Performances will be in English or have English subtitles.

A Tourist's Perspective - Project Oasis Little India Singapore

Project Oasis in Little India (POLI) is a pilot project managed by Little India Shopkeepers & Heritage Association (LISHA) and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board. The site designs are based on a competition submission by Ms Marthalia Budiman. 

Hindoo Road - Umbrella Trees

Ever wished for someone to hold up an umbrella to shade you from the hot sun? The Hindoo Road site features tree sculptures, but with their leaves replaced by umbrellas to shade the seating areas beneath. The design is inspired by the trees in the precinct and how they serve to provide much-needed shade in the hot afternoons. Cool down from a hectic shopping trip and watch the world go by.

Clive Street - Colourful Cattle

Ever wonderf how beautiful cattle can be? The Clive Street site features sculptures of cattle in bright colours and with beautiful Indian design motifs. Cows were an important feature of

the historical economy in Little India, and is also a sacred animal for Hindus. You’ll never get a selfie with a cow anywhere else!
